It has been a busy month once again covering plenty of the countryside!
Tartana broke through for a much deserved win first up at Gosford on Anzac Day. The win was off the back of a nice trial and very consistent performances last preparation, Dolly was given a perfect ride by Jess Taylor at Gosford and it was great to get her Maiden win out of the way. She is much stronger this preparation and will have no problem stepping up in grade, especially as she steps up in distance.
Direct Fire has done a superb job this preparation. I could not be more proud of Drake and how far he has progressed.
Chasing a ridiculously hot tempo at Sapphire Coast on the 5th April, Drake had to do the donkey work in dragging the field up to the leaders. Even so, he looked the winner only to be grabbed right on the line. He then lined up in the Wagga Guineas Prelude where he tried very hard only to be denied by a nose. Next, Drake took his place in the Wagga Guineas itself and was far from disgraced in finishing 7th beaten less than 5 lengths. This was his first go at the mile and came at the end of a pretty long preparation. Drake is now enjoying a well deserved holiday at Kooringal Stud and it will be exciting to see what he does next preparation.
Victory At Omaha continues to race consistently and produced a bold effort in the Murrumbidgee Cup over 1800m at Wagga on the 21st April. Taking up his customary role in the lead, he gave a great sight and fought on courageously to finish 2nd.
On the same day, Veloce Rosa made her race debut in a Super Maiden over 1000m and produced a great effort to finish 2nd. Nali then stepped up to metro grade at Canterbury on the 1st May and produced another solid effort to finish 3rd, collecting her first metro placing at only her second start. Nali is such a professional come race day and it won’t take her long to break her Maiden.
Rubilace made her race debut in a Super Maiden over 1200m at Moruya on the 26th April. Anna produced a brave effort on debut, sitting 3 wide throughout and trying very hard to finish 3rd (just beaten in a photo for 2nd).
Sir Sublime collected his first placing with a good 3rd at Sapphire on the 5th April, whilst Keroessa delivered a solid effort at Moruya on the 26th April to finish 3rd beaten only half a length. Foxtrot Bravo added yet another placing to his resume with a 3rd at Goulburn and Canny Kick produced his best effort at his third career start to finish 4th at Moruya. Vain Invader added at 4th placing over 1600m at a Gosford metro midweek meeting.
We have an exciting group of 3yo’s and it is great to see them hitting the track and showing promise with the likes of Veloce Rosa, Rubilace, Mulvader, Master Riley, Ghaznavi, Canny Kick, Sir Sublime etc
Our 2yo group are also showing promise with Yes Isla Yes trialling well at Canterbury and far from disgraced on debut at Wagga over the carnival finishing 4th. Machination is ready to make his race debut and our Headwater / Liamena gelding and Headwater / Purr Itty Kitty filly had their first jump outs during the month.
We secured a lovely Anders filly from the HTBA Sale on the 28th April. Out of the well performed, stakeswinning mare Linky Dink, this filly looks very sharp.
Also joining the stable, we have:
- Hellbent Colt from the Desert King mare, Northern Cath
- Frosted Filly from the Choisir mare, French Origins and
- Peltzer colt who is the first foal from an Elvstroem mare, Tupelo Express
There are limited shares remaining in each of these yearlings
